Layering Leopard

Sweater & Dress: thrifted   Leopard Blouse: c/o Persunmall   Tights & Wedges: Target
Yep. That'd be me skipping.
You know, I may usually wear crazy prints or obnoxiously textured clothes (leather, sequins, etc.), but there's something about leopard print that makes me think it's too loud. At least, for an entire blouse. I like it in bits and pieces, like in shoes, a scarf, or a belt. But a whole top devoted to leopard print? It's a struggle for me to wear it in an outfit as the centerpiece.

Instead, this top from Persunmall has become my favorite layering piece. It adds the perfect touch of pizzazz to an outfit! The bold print is still eyecatching, but subdued thanks to all the layers. The warm colors of my vintage, leaf dress made me curious to see if the two prints would go together when paired with brown accents, and I'm happy to say (in my opinion at least) that they did!

There was an interesting moment from work last week that I forgot to share about.
I get to interact with a lot of different types of people on a typical work day. One of those types are the flirty grandpas. Now there are two types of flirtatious elderly men - the types that are adorably old school and you know are just being charming to "put a smile on that pretty young girl's face" and then there's the leering, creepy, slimeballs that are...well, just gross.

I met a man who struck me as someone who fell right in the middle of those extremes. He was at my register, and I went through my scripted lines:
"Just one today with water?"
"Yup. Although I'm actually here just to see the pretty librarian cashier, Linda. You seen her?" He looked very pointedly at me.
I laughed and pushed my glasses back up my nose. "Oh yeah? I think I have...Mr...?"
"Just call me Santa Clause."
It's true, he was a living replica of what the jolly old man would look like if he was real.

So at first, I thought Okay, a harmless old school type.
Then he passed by later and asked me something odd.
"Are you single?"
Me: *startled* "Um, yes?"
"Do you date?"
At this point I had a confused if still afable expression on my face.
"Umm, yeah..."
"Would you date someone like me?"
I gave him a quick and decisive no.
"It's my age isn't it?"
"Well, I do like to stay within my own age range!" I teased.
"But it's what's on the inside that counts."

I could tell he was joking with me at that point, but earlier when he was asking about my relationship status I wasn't so sure...

"There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age."

I absolutely love all the colours in this ensemble. The yellow, tans, the burgundy tights, and the leopard print all look so good together! That heart necklace is super cute too.

Are we expanding our possible dating pool, Linda?!? Haha :P

Ok, that Santa comment was somewhat cute and clever but everything else... Not so much.:D I have zero tolerance for these things because I used to work at a club as a bartender and I've seen and heard some crazy moves so now I can't stand it. But you can't hold a grudge against a Santa looking grandpa, can you?:) As far as leopard goes - I can't wear a full on leopard anything either. Whenever I see a woman wearing a leopard dress, a TIGHT leopard dress, I think: "Really?":)

Well then. Awkward encounters can be the worst, for sure. I hope he's just a jolly old man in for a bit of teasing and not a creep somewhere down the line.

that being said, I LOVE THIS OUTFIT. HOLY POOP. It's beautiful. I love the layering, the pattern mixing, the booties, the color palette, the everything. Such bravo. :D

That is one STRANGE encounter! You handled it with grace, though. I don't even know how I would have reacted.

Onto your outfit: I feel ya on the leopard print...it does seem a bit excessive sometimes. I love how you used the top as a layering piece, though. Innovative!

I dislike all-over leopard as well. However, a little bit adds flare and you did an excellent job wearing leopard in this outfit. The colors worked out wonderfully. Thanks for sharing.

Oh god, that story, so awkward! I totally know what you mean, there's the harmless cutesy old grandma type and then the creeps. It almost sounds like your guy was just trying to cover it up in the end lol. I remember one time I was out with my cousins and this man sat uncomfortably close to me while continuously asking me if the reason I didn't want to talk to him was because he was old. Finally a security guy escorted him away. It's a shame some adults don't understand the definition of harassment.

Anyways, I like how you worked in leopard here with the little peeks! Very cute :)

Love the layered leopard- I'm the opposite leopard print is a print I like but sequins are my biggest fear.
I used to work with one of those leery creepy old man types- made me shudder every time he would talk to young girls.

Love this look, what a cute skirt! As for the encounter with the old man that sounds really creepy. I've been there too, because I cater parties and some old men just make me question what they are thinking. Hope he doesn't come back!

i never go for leopard print for that reason either- it's just too snookie for me. i do like it in skinny belts though, but holy cow does itlook AMAZING in this outfit! i'd never think to pair it like that, the mix is so so pretty. and ew, creepy old men putting you in weird situations like that is just ugh. why are they setting themselves up for the rejection?!
